Email Notifications

Receive security alerts via email, with support for immediate notifications and daily digests.

Prerequisites

  • A verified email address in your account
  • Admin or Owner role in Parapet Security

Enabling Email Notifications

Step 1: Navigate to Settings

  1. Log in to app.parapetsecurity.com
  2. Go to SettingsNotifications
  3. Click the Channels tab

Step 2: Enable Email

  1. Find the Email card
  2. Toggle Enable Email Notifications
  3. Verify your email address is correct
  4. Click Save

Step 3: Configure Delivery

Choose how you want to receive emails:

Mode Description
Immediate Email for each alert (above threshold)
Digest Batched summary at set intervals
Both Immediate for critical, digest for others

Configuration Options

Severity Filter

Only receive emails for certain severities:

  1. Go to SettingsNotificationsOverview
  2. Set Minimum Severity
  3. Email respects this global setting

Digest Settings

Configure when and how digests are sent:

  1. Go to SettingsNotificationsAdvanced
  2. Under Digest Settings:
Setting Options
Frequency Hourly, Daily, Weekly
Time Hour to send (for daily)
Day Day to send (for weekly)
Timezone Your local timezone

Email Recipients

By default, notifications go to the account owner. To add more recipients:

  1. Go to SettingsNotificationsChannels
  2. Click Add Recipients under Email
  3. Enter additional email addresses
  4. Recipients receive a verification email

Verification Required

Additional recipients must verify their email address before receiving notifications.

Allowlisting

If emails don't arrive, add these to your allowlist:

  • *@parapetsecurity.com
  • IP ranges: Contact support for current list

SPF/DKIM/DMARC

Parapet Security emails are authenticated with:

  • SPF ✓
  • DKIM ✓
  • DMARC ✓

This helps ensure delivery and prevents spoofing.

Managing Email Preferences

Changing Email Address

  1. Go to SettingsAccount
  2. Update your email address
  3. Verify the new address

Unsubscribing

Each email includes an unsubscribe link. Alternatively:

  1. Go to SettingsNotificationsChannels
  2. Toggle off Email Notifications
  3. Click Save

Reducing Volume

If you receive too many emails:

  1. Increase severity threshold - Only critical/high alerts
  2. Enable digest mode - Batch non-urgent alerts
  3. Adjust quiet hours - No emails during off-hours

Troubleshooting

Emails Not Arriving

  1. Check spam/junk folder - Most common issue
  2. Verify email address - Ensure it's correct in settings
  3. Check corporate filters - IT may block external emails
  4. Send test email - Use the test button in settings

Emails Going to Spam

  1. Add *@parapetsecurity.com to contacts
  2. Mark emails as "Not Spam"
  3. Ask IT to allowlist our domain

Delayed Delivery

  1. Check if digest mode is enabled
  2. Check quiet hours settings
  3. Rate limiting may batch alerts

Test Email Not Arriving

  1. Wait 2-3 minutes (email can be delayed)
  2. Check spam folder
  3. Verify email address is correct
  4. Try a different email provider (personal vs corporate)

Security Considerations

  • Emails are sent over TLS
  • Links expire after 24 hours
  • No sensitive alert data in subject lines
  • Click tracking is disabled
